Akshay Kumar Defends Paresh Rawal Amid Hera Pheri 3 Exit Row: “We Are Very Good Friends”
At the recent trailer launch of Housefull 5 in Mumbai, Akshay Kumar addressed the controversy surrounding Paresh Rawal's exit from Hera Pheri 3. Responding to a reporter's mention of social media criticism labeling Rawal as "foolish" for his decision, Akshay firmly defended his longtime co-star. He stated, "First of all, I would like to tell you that using this kind of word for one of my co-stars, like a foolish word, I would not appreciate it. I would say that that's not right. He's been with me, I've worked with him since the last 30 to 32 years. We are very good friends. He's a great actor."
Akshay emphasized the seriousness of the situation, noting that it's not appropriate to discuss such matters casually or in public settings. He added, "I really admire him and whatever is there, I don't think so. This is a place where I'm going to talk about it because whatever has to happen, it's a very serious matter. It is a matter which is going to be handled by the court."
The dispute arose after Rawal's unexpected departure from Hera Pheri 3, leading Akshay's production house, Cape of Good Films, to file a ₹25 crore lawsuit against him for breach of contract. The production house claimed that Rawal had been paid ₹11 lakh as a signing amount and had already shot a teaser with Akshay and Suniel Shetty. Rawal's sudden withdrawal allegedly caused significant financial losses and disrupted the film's schedule.
In response, Rawal's lawyer, Ameet Naik, issued a formal reply, asserting that Rawal's exit was "rightful." Rawal also returned the signing amount with 15% interest and additional compensation. He expressed hope that the matter would be resolved amicably.
Despite the legal tensions, Akshay's public defense underscores the personal bond between the two actors, offering a glimpse of reconciliation amidst the professional dispute.
